Recently, I learned about Learn About in a community I joined. I’ve been using it for a few days, and it’s truly impressive.
Learn About is an AI tutoring tool powered by the LearnLM model (don’t ask me what that is😂). It provides personalized teaching through explanations, diagrams, and annotated texts to help users think for themselves.
It works just like other popular AI tools, using a conversational learning approach. Based on the user’s questions, it gives corresponding answers. Google describes Learn About as your “guide to knowledge,” and I think that’s a pretty accurate description.
On the homepage, you’ll see these cards. From their titles, it’s clear that you can explore a wide range of fascinating topics here. For example: What makes some ocean creatures glow? What’s the biggest wave ever surfed? What’s the meaning of Edvard Munch’s The Scream?
Exploring Learn About
Even though I’m not curious about these topics right now, I know this tool offers a treasure trove of unexpected knowledge. All I have to do is type my question into the search bar, and it will find an answer.
For instance, I entered the text shown above, and Learn About generated the following response:
Next, I asked another question: Why use “being”? Here’s what it answered:
First, it gave me a detailed explanation and even complimented me for asking a great question, which was encouraging! 😂
In the middle, there’s a section where it pulls related posts from the web. You can check out how others explain the same topic—it’s a thoughtful touch.
At the bottom, it suggests related topics you might want to learn about, like more examples of gerunds or other ways to use “being” in sentences. When I clicked the first suggestion, it gave me this response:
It listed the different roles gerunds can play in sentences and provided images to match the examples. This is where Google AI really shines, adding visuals to make concepts easier to grasp.
For the question Can you give me more examples of gerunds?, it also provided related resources:
At the bottom, there are three more options to explore. Interestingly, the last one reminds you to revisit the original topic—just in case you’re getting sidetracked!🫣

When I clicked Simplify, the response changed to something easier to understand. Take a look—isn’t it more straightforward? 😍
My Experience with Learn About
- Clear Explanations for English Grammar: Learn About does a great job explaining English sentence structures. For instance, it correctly interpreted lines from Modern Family, even without full context.
- Limited Support for Chinese: It’s not very convenient to use with Chinese. When I asked questions in Chinese, it often returned errors, saying the language isn’t supported. But sometimes it worked. Overall, English is the easiest language to use.
